April 2017’s Full Moon falls on the 10th in the sign of Libra. This full moon is known as the Pink Moon, it was called such because it heralded the appearance of the moss pink, or wild ground phlox—one of the first spring flowers. It is also known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon.
All reports with regards to this Full moon point to a feel good moon. We can accomplish much if we are willing to look at where we are out of balance and lay the ground work to bring our lives back into balance. It promises to be the moon of abundance, growth, and good fortune, however, the flip side of this moon is that you can only reap what you sow. In other words be prepared to do some work and don’t wait for it to land at your feet.
Think about one area of your life where you would like to be more balanced. If you are not sure which area to pick, decide to place the intent for balance in all areas of your life. I think it is appropriate to ask the Goddess Maat to join us as she is the goddess associated with balance, fairness, harmony, and wisdom. Her gentle energy will help guide you until the next full moon in bringing balance into all areas of your life.
Prepare to work with Maat on the evening of the full moon. Diffuse frankincense essential oil or burn some frankincense incense. If you wish to have a beverage choose beer or wine. Holding a feather, Ostrich is you have one in one hand, and one of the following crystals: aqua aura, turquoise, amazonite, larimar, or chrysocolla in the other hand. I would suggest holding the crystal in your non-dominant hand and the feather in your dominant hand. I want you to slowly relax your body and mind, and visualize yourself walking down 10 steps, counting each one as you step down. At the bottom you will be met by Maat who will lead you to a comfortable seat. Before you will be a large scale, as you think about each area of your life notice if the scale tilts more to one side or the other. It if tilts, pause and ask Maat to help you bring balance into that area. Listen to the advice offered, and remember be true to yourself and trust you understand what is needed to bring balance to your life. When you are ready, thank Maat for her wisdom, and guidance, then slowly walk back up the stairs and back to the now.
This new moon in Libra brings the Western Hemisphere its second new moon in September, for the Northern Hemisphere, it arrives on October 1st. A second new moon in a month is known as a black moon which is very rare. Given that only part of the world will experience this energy I sit wondering how it will all play out. Typically, a black moon is a breath of fresh air! A turning point in the cycle, a time for awakening to greater clarity, which is anchored by a compassionate feminine energy. It will seem like we are coming out of hibernation into a safe environment, a birth from the womb into our loving mother’s arms. The past few months have been fraught with doom and gloom and so many eclipses adding their energy that it will be exciting to take some fresh steps towards a brand new start. Expect some things to come to light during this dark moon, those who have been deceitful will no longer be able to hide. Like all new moons, it is time to manifest your desires. I am happy to say this moon’s positioning with the other planets brings positive growth, happiness, and optimism in almost all areas of life. Career, wealth, love, and health. Take some time to pause, reflect and re-balance what has felt off for you the past few months or even for the entire year. Burn some sage or incense or diffuse some oils to clear your aura and home. Archangel Ariel is the perfect angel to call upon for this moon. Ariel helps one to reach their full potential. Ariel will help you to dig deep within yourself to bring out your best. Ariel will also help you to stay grounded as you overcome any worries or fears you have so that you can confidently bring to light the changes you wish to see. Crystals which would enhance this moon are obsidian, calcite, and Lepidolite. Expect miracles, stellar epiphanies, and opportunities as you plant the seeds to a powerful blossoming future.
September 1, 2016, 2:03 am PDT in Virgo – Solar Eclipse
The new moon this month will come between the Sun and Earth, causing a solar eclipse, which will disrupt the normal energy flow, blessing each of us with the opportunity to create changes that will last. The new moon energy provides the opportunity to shift and change areas in our life. A solar eclipse is all about change meaning we are in a prime time to drill down on all areas of our life and see where we need to incorporate some change. Even if we don’t drill down, having a solar eclipse brings change, fated change. Put into action Mercury retrograde – which turns on August 30th- and the opportunities are endless! To infinity and beyond. Mercury retrograde is a good time for inner reflection as is the new moon.
It looks like we are in for change, change, change. Rather than fight it, we might as well take charge and work with it! Think of this new moon cycle as the time to move on, away from your past with the solar eclipse being the turning point. If you have had a difficult past year, things are easing, and you should feel like the tides are turning and brighter days are ahead.
Time to take stock of everything that you have been dreaming about. Inner reflection and self-honesty are required right now. It might be time to let go of particular dreams that just have not seemed to be working out for you, acknowledge that they just weren’t right for you. Acknowledge that something better is coming to replace them. In fact, September seems ripe for “new” beginnings so why not dream up a whack of new dreams and allow the others to stay dormant – which is where they have been anyway.
In thinking about this new moon and how best to have the energy work for me, I kept being drawn to my pendulum. A quick google search will find you some pendulum charts that you can use, or you can print off a blank one and make your own. To help me determine what area of my life I should reflect upon and ponder change within, I am going to use a pendulum chart with the chakra's first. Each chakra coordinates with a different aspect of your life, for instance, if my pendulum were drawing a line through the Heart Chakra placement I would know that I need to work on acceptance, forgiveness, and relationships. That in and of itself would be or could be vague, so next I would use a Major Arcana pendulum chart because again each card represents a different aspect and would draw a bigger picture of the direction I needed to take. Let's say my pendulum drew a line to the Strength card. I could discern that that I needed to be kinder with my thoughts. That my thoughts manifest in the physical, and where are they leading me. Forgiveness would still play a key in my revitalization. AT this point I would start saying the H’oponopono while thinking of what has been going through my mind lately.
The new and full moons offer us an opportunity to bring clarity to our lives. It is up to us to discern how we will use the energy of each moon. I like to mix the energy with some fun, for nothing in life has to be a struggle. I also believe that change is a good thing, and the more that I understand myself, the easier change is to facilitate. I would rather be the facilitator than be the victim carried on the winds of change. Use this new moon energy to revitalize yourself. Don't wait for change to land on your doorstep, open the door and invite it in!
August brings us the full Sturgeon moon on the 18th at 02:29 AM PDT in Aquarius.
First off, let us look at the symbolism for Sturgeon and Aquarius. Sturgeon signifies inner tranquility, perception, and intuition. Sturgeon will always show you the truth and will help you see below the surface clearly. Aquarius is an air sign, which means that they are thinkers, they use their minds and have a strong desire for freedom. Aquarius can be shy and quiet or eccentric and energetic.
The combination of Sturgeon and Aquarius, to me, means we should feel at peace and from this peace will be able to see our next direction clearly. It feels very positive and freeing. Be prepared to have this moon be a roller coaster period of quiet and boisterous times.
This full moon signifies the time of harvest. Whatever you have been working on for the past six months will be brought to the front and illuminated so that you can tie up any unfinished business. That is not to say that all will be wrapped up and ended, expect some things to continue until later this year. We have a Lunar Eclipse on the 11th of this month, the energy from this eclipse is supporting us in wrapping up our primary goals and ideas before the solar eclipse happens on September 1st. Recall that we started an eclipse cycle on March 6th with a solar eclipse.
Expect some good news to arrive with this moon. Optimism along with a happy frame of mind is being ushered in with the energy. It will push you to complete projects started earlier this year and start to lay down plans. Don’t forget to add a dose of fun to keep the “happy” factor alive and motivating you.
For this full moon, it feels right just to bring everything together with a simple meditation. I say everything together, because if feels like we have been collectively building our goals up and releasing what has not been working frantically this year. I sense this moon has a gentler energy. It feels like together we are releasing a breath that we have been holding since January.
Simple Full Moon Meditation
- Can be done indoors or under the light of the full moon.
Sit in a comfortable and relaxed position.
Breathe in slowly and relax, clearing your mind and releasing any tension from your body. Open your heart and feel the energy of the full moon all around you.
Notice the brilliant light of the Full Moon glowing above you, or imagine it if you are doing this indoors. Know the full Moon energy is connected to the Divine and to All That Is, by connecting with the moons energy you are connecting to all. Feel your energy, mind, and body receiving a cleanse as the positive, uplifting energies of the moonlight streams down upon you. Feel yourself letting go of what no longer serves, and experience your energy being uplifted and recharged.
Focus on what you truly desire. What is the desire of your heart at this moment in your life? Visualize your desire, and imagine the light of the moon supercharging your intention.
Feel your inner light glowing brightly, reflected in the moon above. Breathe, and just be.
By honoring this full moon with a simple meditation, you are grounding the crazy energy of the past few months into a stable, useful form. The sky is the limit, think infinity and beyond, as we go into the last five months of 2016.
The new moon in August arrives on the 2nd at 1:46 pm PDT in Leo. Time to tie up loose ends and this new moon asks us to do so practically with a flair of whimsy. Remember, now is the time to make plans for your future, by putting yourself first in those plans. On the July full moon, we did a releasing ritual to shed our history that keeps us locked into the feelings which don’t serve us. We asked to release that which held us back so that we could regenerate our life. Now we have the opportunity to tie up any loose ends and focus on our future.
This is a practical new moon, no fancy trappings required, simple is all that is required for tangible results. Leo rules the 5th house in the zodiac wheel, and oversees our children, whimsy and creativity. Perfect to go with regenerating our lives because our life starts out as a child without judgements and an insatiable need for whimsy which is created and only limited by our imaginations. I say let’s let our inner child out for this new moon and create a little magic in our lives! When we are immersed in joy, we create magic and when we create magic all things are possible. I don’t know about you, but for me nothing says whimsy and inner child quite like bubbles. Each bubble is unique. It travels on a whimsical path, sometimes landing on an object other times it bursts midair. They are a joy to create, and I don’t think anyone does not smile when they see bubbles floating in the air. There is just something magical in their perfect iridescent spheres.
Purchase some bubble magic. You can keep it simple with just a wee bottle of solution that comes with a wand or if you are into it you can purchase the ingredients and make your own along with a simple homemade wand – instructions below.
On the night of the new moon, pick a time when you can just relax and have some fun. If you wish invite some friends over and make an evening of it. If you do this provide a bubble maker for each person. Then simply blow your wishes, one at a time, into the bubbles and watch them float around before bursting into the universal energy with love to be brought home to you as dreams come true. Have fun!
1/2 cup of dishwashing liquid (Dawn or Joy), 2 cups of water, 2 teaspoons of sugar
6 parts water, 2 parts Joy dishwashing liquid, and 3/4-part corn syrup
1/4 cup liquid dishwashing detergent, 3/4 cup cold water, 5 drops of glycerin
Pipe cleaners work well for bubble wands; they soak up a lot of the solution. To make a wand you can use a cookie cutter to create a shape or take one pipe cleaner and form it into a circle, leaving a bit at the end to twist around another pipe cleaner. As long as you have an open space at the top and a handle to hold onto you are set. If you want a big bubble wand, use a wire coat hanger and form into a shape with a handle.
The full Buck moon arrives at 3:57pm PDT, on July 19th in the sign of Capricorn.
I find this moon fascinating, ok, so I find the name fascinating. Full Buck Moon. It was named by the ancestors because this is typically the time of year the male population of deer, elk, and moose regrow their antlers. The cycle of their antlers is very magical. They lose them after the rut, the mating season, due to the decrease in testosterone. Typically, when the does have dropped their babies the male drops his antlers. This will continue for the duration of the Buck’s life, each year the “rack” grows larger than the last.
Alright, back to the full moon.
When the moon is in Capricorn and the sun is in Cancer we are looking at the structures, security, in our life. What is illuminated during this time is what our focus is upon. If we are focusing on merely our insecurities or the negative aspects of our life, that is what comes forth. Perhaps those around you will be pointing out or picking up on your insecurities and placing undue pressure on you. Nothing worse than someone pointing out something you are already aware of! As with any full moon, expect emotions to be running high. The key to surviving this moon is balance. Use any challenges that come up for you to your advantage. Take them as a sign it is time to “drop” them, use your natural talents and experience to turn the challenges into successes! This moon ushers in courage and a sense of adventure, slip into your hiking boots and confidently go forth!
I am intrigued by the bucks and how they shed and regrow their antlers. What stood out for me was that the regrowth is larger, more massive. I thought about how in life we are often our own worst enemies. What if we shed the history that keeps us locked into feelings of “not worthy, not good enough, lack” any imbalance that keeps us from being confident that we can achieve anything. That keeps us from knowing our own self-worth.
Gather your moon crystals, an antler if you have one – I don’t have an antler, but will use one of my stag ornaments in its place, a red candle to symbolize the velvet of the antler when it regrows – this velvet is what nourishes the antler while it is growing, a bowl of water, small pieces of paper – white, a water soluble felt pen.
On the 19th, gather your articles and arrange them to your liking, put on some soft background music -whatever inspires you. Once you have things to your liking, light your candle and ask your angels and guides to be with you. At this point you can also call upon the energy of the stag to add his gentleness, grace, wisdom and determination. Sit quietly and ask for guidance on what needs to be shed so that you can experience regeneration in your life. As guidance comes to you write one word that best describes it on a piece of paper. Place the paper in the water and taking your right hand (or left if you are left handed, your dominate hand) and use your pointer finger to stir the water counterclockwise in a circle, like flushing it out of your life. The ink will either smudge or disappear. Continue for as long as you are guided. When you are ready, give thanks to the stag, moon, and your angels and guides. Toss the water away from you outside allowing it to return to mother earth. Blow out your candle.
Go with the flow, if the above does not work for you, modify it to suit your needs. Some month’s life gets busy and I am lucky to sit with the moon energy for a brief period of time holding my crystals. It is my way of honoring not only the energy that guides our water, but myself. It is my time to connect, relax, and always learn something about myself.
Our July new moon arrives at 4:03 am PDT on July 4th in the sign of Cancer. Cancer is the nurturing sign of the zodiac, making this new moon the perfect time to plant an intent and nurture it through the birthing process to success. Due to the Sun, Moon, Venus and Mercury being in Cancer, it is also the moon for self-care. Remember when we take care of ourselves first, everyone benefits.
The new moon can bring to our consciousness our darker shadows we tend to bury deep in our psyche. Those areas we have been procrastinating dealing with could very well come to a head, and we will not be able to escape them. Not a bad thing because this new moon offers us the chance to be kind and loving towards ourselves. What better way to show ourselves some love than by bringing some light to those shadows? Plus, the energy of this moon aligned with the other planets means we can do so without much worry or stress!
If you have a shadow triggering some emotions, look at how you can change that from a negative to a positive. What would the intent be to bring freedom and peace to this situation? That is what you will focus on for this new moon.
If nothing seems to come forward, and you have set the intent the last six new moons for money, health, or love, time to step out of the box and try something new.
For this new moon gather the following objects. Crystals – of course – whatever you are drawn to along with the new moon crystals (black moonstone, obsidian, black tourmaline, tektite (see www.merrlina.com/by-the-light-of-the-moon.html for details) you may also add a moonstone as that is the moon in Cancer’s crystal. A candle, black if you have one, if not any candle will do. Something to keep thirst at bay. An oracle or tarot deck. Notebook, and pen.
On the day of the full moon treat yourself to some nurturing, perhaps a simple dinner out or brought in, a glass of wine, a warm bubble bath, whatever nurtures you and allows you to relax is perfect. Gather your items, and set up where you will be comfortable.
Arrange everything so that it is pleasing to you, then light the candle. Call upon your angels and guides to be present with you. Now pick up the deck of cards, holding them up to your heart, form a clear question. Either “what do I need to know today?” or if you have a particular area you would like guidance on, form a clear question with regards to that. Once you have your question formed, take the deck and shuffle it. If you are used to using your cards, you will know how you will pull one card. That is all we are going to focus on, one card. If more come out of the deck – use the first one and ignore (for now) the others.
What do you first notice about the card that came forth? Forget what you know about this card, what is the first thing you notice, or the first impression that comes to you. Pay attention to the details of the card, the colors, the imagery, the energy, how does it make you feel? Notice any memories, mental images, or emotions that it triggers. Spend some time with this card, in quiet meditation, in a relaxed non-hurried way. When you feel ready, jot down your impressions in your notebook, leave nothing out. Next, look at the guide that came with the deck and read through it for that card. Note anything that jumps out at you. Once finished, close your notebook and sit quietly drinking your beverage, and watching the candle flicker and glow, enjoy. Allow your thoughts to be random and go where they wish. Sit for as long as you feel comfortable, then give thanks for the seeds that have been planted, and blow out the candle. If you had more than one card fly out of your deck, you may either look at them now or wait until tomorrow to review them. Don’t put them back in the deck as they will have guidance for you.
Tomorrow upon waking, take a few minutes before fully engaging in your day to review your notes. What guidance comes forward for you to manifest freedom and peace in your life? That will be your focus for the next 28 days.
The full Strawberry Moon arrives in Sagittarius on May 20th, at 4:02 am PDT. If you have been following along with these Moon reports, you might think “Hey! Wait a minute; Marlene made a mistake! The full moon was in Sagittarius last month!” Not a mistake, again the full moon is in Sagittarius. I like that Sagittarius is once again lending a calm, balanced emotional outlook to whatever we are contemplating releasing.
It is interesting to note that this full moon is carrying on the theme of love and money! Full moon focus’s our attention on all relationships and has itself a relationship with the previous new moon. Given that both bring to our attention, love and money, we are having a double whammy this month. Think of this full moon as harvest time, what you started on June 4th can now be fine-tuned or completed depending. This full moon should bring you in touch with your needs, and you should be able to see where there is disharmony or imbalance. Obstacles will have come up, and now you get to put your ideas for improvement into place.
Ensure you have your crystals that you set up for the new moon, beside you. Let us toast our progress with a glass of sparkling wine (alcoholic or non-alcohol). Place a couple of fresh strawberries in the glass and then pour the wine over them. The strawberries should give it a taste of summer and remind us of how sweet life can be when we let go of what is no longer serving us. Watch the bubbles rise to the top of the glass and burst through the surface, imagine the obstacles you have faced lately rising out of you, through your crown and dissipating like little sparkles into the universe. Be bubbly like the wine and don’t allow your thoughts to become cynical and sad – the light of the full moon tends to shine a spotlight on the bits we keep hidden away in the shadows. Face your shadows, and understand that right now you are being offered keen perception and intuitive insight so that you may see them in a new light and heal them. It does not matter if what holds you back from true love or financial security was ingrained in you earlier in this lifetime or if you brought it forth from another lifetime, now you can break those bonds easily.
Enjoy the light of the moon and feel it infuse you with the power and courage to release what holds you back from having true love and financial security.
Our June new moon arrives at 7:59 pm PDT on June 4th in Gemini. Like all new moons, we are beginning a new 28-day cycle where all possibilities are on the table. We get to play with our future, make new plans, and question old habits, beliefs, and behaviors. There is excitement when a new moon arrives, and our zealousness to bring something new to our lives, can have us focusing on many ideas at once. The first two weeks of the 28-day cycle are the best time to make fresh starts and begin new projects. Don’t be disheartened if not all of your "wishes" take flight, you will not succeed in all, but you can lay the groundwork now for future success.
This new moon will shine a light upon all you love and value. Literally, due to Venus being close to the sun and moon, this moon shines upon the areas of love and money. Sounds splendid doesn’t it? Saturn is retrograde, and along with some other planets having a little fun, you will be charged to keep things real. Venus will soften our view of life and make the rough edges appear smooth, in a dreamy romantic way. It is perfect actually for this Gemini moon after all Gemini is the duality sign. What is real and what is fantasy? That will be our biggest challenge with this new moon. Keep your expectations in check, watch out for signs of greed, delusion, and fear, and you should do just fine.
Before you start to set your intentions this month, gather the following crystals – hematite, clear quartz, lapis lazuli, citrine and amethyst to add to your moon crystals. As this moon is shining a light upon all you love and value, think upon that for a couple of days leading up to the 4th. In the areas of love and money, what new plans do you wish to make for the future? Remember, we are in Gemini and as such you will probably be shown both sides of the equation. From that, you can set your intentions. In the area of love, you might want to spend more time with those you love, or if you are single, you will obviously be setting the intent for a partner to come into your life. One thing we can all intend, is to embrace ourselves with as much love as we bestow upon others. In the area of finances, you might require a little more to get you through each month, or you might feel you have enough but want to be able to give more to those in need.
On the evening of the new moon, gather your crystals and set them up in an appealing way to you. You might wish to include a candle and other token items you value. I suggest setting this up on a small plate that you can leave for the 28-days, and that you can move around your home at will. From this point on, do what feels comfortable to you. You might have been setting your intentions as you set up your crystals, infusing them with your wishes. If you prefer to write out your intentions, do so now and place the list under your crystals. You might wish just to sit quietly with your thoughts. If so, light a candle, play some soft background music, and ask your angels to join you. Think about what you truly love and value. Allow your mind to wander and see what comes forward. Let your imagination flow with all possibilities and let the energy of this dark moon bring it to light.
It does not matter how you honor the moon. You are honoring yourself and your life by taking the time each month to sit with what is going on in your life, and either release what is not working, or bring in something new. After all what we truly love and value most, or should, is ourselves, when we are at our best, we are able to help others be their best.
The Full Flower Moon arrives on May 21, 2016, at 2:14 pm PDT. 4 planets will still be in retrograde, however, Mercury will be direct tomorrow. During the past few weeks you might have had many triggers pull you in a direction that you thought you had released and healed, yet there it was, staring you down like a long lost friend. Good thing Full Moons are about releasing!
This full moon is in the sign of Sagittarius, which will help us to benefit from new ideas and fresh insights. It is time to listen, probably to the triggers that blindsided us, and figure out what is important. Sagittarius will lend a calm, balanced emotional outlook as we delve into our inner psyche.
As we sit down with our cup of tea or cold beverage and prepare our workings, it is good to note a few things. Not to scare anyone, but to extend how seriously powerful this moon is. First, if you believe it - it could happen. Make sure you understand that what you release now will dissipate and be gone. More so now under the influence of Sagittarius than any other planet. Optimism will be high, and you will know what to release by what does not feel positive. Don't be surprised if you decide to make a move - any move, including; new partners, new careers, new home, etc. Best to do this release as a walking release if at all possible. I know, I just said as we sit down.... however, the urge to move freely might take over. You could dance this release as well, allow your body to dictate what works for you.
No need to make a list, just think back over the triggers that have come up recently, or what feels stagnant and like the energy has come to an end of life. As soon as a thought comes to mind, sit with it for a moment. Can it be given a second chance or is it time to release it? If it is time to release it, gently say " I now release_____ to the moon with thanks and love. It has served me well by the blessings it brought my way. I ask that it be carried by the light of the moon and transmuted. May something better come to replace it."
Take as much time as you need, don't feel rushed but don't overstay your welcome either. No point in releasing everything, remember - listen to your heart, what is important? Trust yourself and enjoy the beauty of the moon's light and feel confident that you are on the right track!
The New Moon arrives on April 7th at 4:25 am PDT. Change, excitement, and higher awareness are key factors with this moon. It brings the energy of linking our past to our future which seems to be a natural flow from the full moon of March 23rd. If you have been having “old emotions” rise up to the surface for resetting, the New Moon energy should help. As new moons are all about fresh starts and new beginnings, we are being asked to truly clear the slate. All changes you make now will take root and flourish. Be on the lookout for changes on the global scene as well.
In the past, change has often been chaotic, forced upon us, but going forward it should be more orderly, structured and methodical. My personal take on this is that “we” are more in charge of implementing change in our lives. Which on one hand I find rather amusing given that many don’t like change. Yet, if we are able to accept that change brings vibrant new energy, we might just start understanding that taking charge of how change happens is the gentler approach.
What are you willing to do for yourself? It is the time to be the peaceful warrior, moving beyond your comfort zone, and standing firmly for yourself. No longer allowing anything to strong-arm you into changing, or waiting for something/someone to come along and change things for you – the chaotic forced change. Not sure why, but I feel that if we don’t start implementing change when it needs to happen, we will just bob along stuck in one place. If you take a look around, I am sure you could come up with a few people you know who are exactly in that place.
I have thought about this for a couple days and I think the simplest way for us to honor this moon is by hard boiling two eggs ahead of the time you will sit with the moon. Eggs symbolize rebirth and quintessentially life. They also symbolize breaking through, something this moon energy seems to be pointing towards. Gather one green crayon and one yellow crayon. Alternatively, you could choose to color the eggs using a mixture of 1-part vinegar, 2-parts water, and a couple drops of food coloring (blue and yellow make green). After preparing a comfortable place to sit with the moon energy, and ensuring you have enough time, call upon your angels, guides, and helpers. When you feel relaxed and centered, if you are using crayons, draw whatever comes to you on each egg using green on one and yellow on the other. Do not mix the colors. If you are dying your eggs, place them each in their color bath. While coloring or waiting for the color bath to set, meditate on what you wish to have more of in your life. In order to bring something in, you will need to release something. Example, if you wish to bring a partner into your life – you would release that which holds you in past relationships. Trust me – even when you think you have released something, if the new is not coming in, you are still being held by the past. As you are releasing from your past, see a positive light filling the space. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. We need to be aware of what we are releasing and how it might impact the choices we make going forward, which is why we need to see it being replaced with light.
Pick up the green egg, and say “I thank the past for the gifts it provided and now release it along with all negativity.” Pick up the yellow egg and say “I face the future with inspiration and trust.” Close the space by giving thanks. Tomorrow use the eggs in a fresh salad, and as you enjoy, feel your spirit being renewed and nourished.
The New Moon in March arrives at 5:55 pm PST on the 8th. This new moon is especially powerful as we have the added power of a Solar eclipse. New Moons are the ending of one cycle and the beginning of the next, solar eclipses are the same – one cycle ends and the next begins. Solar eclipses bring deep healing on a soul level. It can be wounds from your past or something that has been causing challenges more recently, or something yet to come. The wonderful aspect of this is that while there may be some pain within this healing it brings freedom. New moons are used to bring something to us. If we look at this, from the perspective of March being a fresh month that ushers in spring we can use this to our advantage.
It is important to note that the energy from this moon will be with us for the next six months. Right up to the Full Moon in September, when it will next be in Pisces with a Lunar eclipse. Think of this New Moon as the opening, and the September Full Moon as the closing.
So, how best to navigate this New Moon and the energy that she will bring? With non-action, non-doing. Take a page from Pisces and go with the flow, no matter which way it is flowing. Pisces is the intuitive sign in the zodiac, they trust the currents of life to take them where they need to be. They go between the worlds with ease – one foot in reality and the other in the unseen. When a solar eclipse happens the moon gets between the sun and the earth, which expresses itself as our ego or self-importance (Sun) being blocked. We are given a brief moment of sacred space to ride the wave of divinely guided inspiration via our higher self, unhindered by our minds questioning what is being given. Well, that is to say, if we choose this to be.
On this New Moon day take some time near water to perform a meditation whereby you focus on the water, the sounds around you, and bring peace into your body. Relax into the space around you and feel calm. Once you have achieved this calm, allow your thoughts of the day and life to drain from you and enter the earth through your feet. Sit with your mind empty and see what inspiration comes to you from your higher-self. Take as much time as this feels comfortable and safe. If your mind starts chattering and you don’t feel you have received inspiration, quiet it by simply saying “thank you for your thoughts, I will attend to them later.” Your message might be a simple as one word, or more complex. Whatever the message you receive, write it down, for it will be your inspiration for the next 6 months. You are closing one door to open the next on your personal journey to wholeness.
The potential this moon brings us is enormous, and we should each ride the wave of blessings it is giving us. To do so, it asks us to embrace the wound being presented for healing, in some countries the words wound and heal is the same – interesting and a great way for us to look at this. There is not to be any struggle or resistance to this, just the “take it easy” approach, giving ourselves time to heal. Be patient, self-disciplined and take responsibility. Forgive ourselves and others and treat all with respect –including you!
The new moon on February 8th at 6:38 am PST in Aquarius, is bringing some wonderful energy for us to explore! When the moon is in this sign there is an instinctual need for improvement, which could bring about a chaotic change in direction. As an added bonus, it is Chinese New Year, bringing in the year of the Monkey!
Time to explore something new and unusual. Typically, I suggest “moon” rituals that are solo, but this moon begs us to get out with some friends, do something we have never done before. Perhaps have dim sum and celebrate Chinese New Year. Basically, welcome this new moon in the company of good friends or family, catch up on each other’s lives and have some laughs.
For about a three-day period you will be open to new methods of doing things. Welcome this energy! Even if it is a chaotic change in direction, it could be just what is needed to change your paradigm. We all want change, either in our personal lives or globally, and yet typically we keep doing the same actions over and over with the result being things staying the same. It will not necessarily be easy breezy, however, if you embrace and accept the effort it takes, you will be pleased with the results down the road.
As we honor this new moon, let’s use the Aquarius energy and manifest improvement in our overall health, wealth and cheer for the rest of the year. Nothing elaborate, just a simple chat with the moon will suffice. Allow the energy of having been in good company tonight to lead the way, light a candle and simply state your intent for a year of good cheer, a year of good health, and a year of prosperous wealth. Don’t go into imagining how any of that will look, just intend it and let it go. Pour yourself a cup of tea, and enjoy the flickering flame of your candle until you are ready to head to bed.
Be open to receiving new ideas that will bring your desires into being. All that is required of you is the willingness to embrace and accept good cheer, good health, and prosperity – no matter how it comes to you.
2016 is My Year of Wonderful!
Our first New Moon of 2016 is in the sign of Capricorn and arrives on the 9th at 5:31 pm PST. The sign of Capricorn is considered to be the most determined of the entire Zodiac. It is ambitious, while being conservative and practical. As we are slipping into a new year, a fresh start, and another 12 months to have adventures and figure out more about ourselves, this is the perfect moon to start us off.
The moon in Capricorn is all about long term activities, it encourages us to set a target and go after it relentlessly. Since New Moons are all about bringing into our lives what we desire, I believe we should use this moon to set the intent to have a wonderful year, laying the foundation right now with some practical items to help us recall that we are making 2016 our best year yet!
Let’s start off sitting in the light of the moon by lighting a white or yellow candle (the moon is not going to grace us this evening with her light) and idly daydreaming about what a wonderful year would look like. What do you desire to have a wonderful year? It might be improved health and fitness, financial freedom, or at least enough to ease up the stress of wondering how you are going to manage all your responsibilities. It could be a partner to share your life with, or it could be a desire to learn something new. Perhaps you have no idea about what wonderful would look like, but you get a sense of how it would feel. Your “wonderful” will be your true heart’s desire and I ask that you take the time to quiet your mind, as often our minds think we want something, when truly our hearts have a different idea all together.
Now that you have a sense of what your wonderful is going to be, ask your higher self to provide a mantra. A mantra is a simple sentence that can and should be repeated to remind us of what we are working towards. It could be “My life is abundant and all my needs are met.” “I am attracting the love I dream of and desire.” “I am fulfilled.” “I am fearless.” “I am enough.” “What is my path to happiness.” Just a simple phrase that will embody what you desire for a wonderful 2016. If you feel drawn, say the mantra before rising in the morning and last thing at night when you go to bed. Most likely you will say it faithfully for a while, then drop it, but know that if you hit a roadblock, it will be there to repeat and remind yourself that you are creating your own wonderful 2016.
One last item, a charm! What symbolizes your wonderful 2016? Again, ask your higher self to show you what charm symbolizes wonderful for you. Either search your own items or plan to purchase a small token that you can either carry with you or have in a prominent spot in your home to remind you that 2016 is going to be wonderful.
Spend as much time building the foundation with this moon as you need. Make some notes in your journal or day planner to remind you of this evenings desire, mantra and charm. As you blow out the candle say aloud “2016 is my year of wonderful. Nothing can stop me – I can only stop myself!”
November 11, 2015
The new moon of November will rise in the sign of Scorpio, when the moon is in Scorpio we can expect to find balance between selfness and acting for others. For me this brought to mind how often we act not out of what is best for us, but what we feel we should be doing because of others. It is a welcome gateway of energy for transformation, and to overcome negative influences. How often are the negative influences caused by us? By when we act for others instead of for ourselves? Look at where you would like to have more balance in what you give to yourself and what you give to others. Now is the perfect to bring that balance into your life. What would that look like? And remember, be careful what you wish for, because you might be surprised by how it manifests.
To honor this new moon, what came to me immediately is hosting a potluck! This is a wonderful way to enjoy the energy of the new moon in a positive fun environment. Gather friends you have not seen for a while, ask each to bring a dish so that balance or work is equally distributed. Use some fun paper plates to serve the bounty on and cleanup will be a breeze. Or if this seems to be part of the imbalance between selves and others for you, arrange that you all meet at a restaurant for some community and great food.
If everyone is comfortable around each other, ask each guest to share one area of their life that they are transforming, what new are they birthing with this new moon? What area of life are they looking to find balance in?
One more area to honor as this new moon falls on November 11th which is Remembrance Day, honor your solemn pride. Those who fought or are fighting to keep our world safe and free have a solemn pride in being able to do the job they have signed up for. For them it is not something they talk about, but they have pride in their country and fight for the rights of all to be able to enjoy a standard of life. We honor each of them on this day by observing a moment of silence and giving thanks. Typically each of us is proud of something that we have achieved or accomplished and while it might not be standing on guard for freedom, it does make us who we are. Take a moment of silence for yourself and think about all that you have in your life and the moments that you are proud of. Give thanks for that and if you are not proud of many moments resolve to shift that during the coming year.
Overall the evening should be kept light and fun! Use the energy of this new moon to bring balance into your life.
October 27, 2015
The full moon of October arrives late in the month on the 27th. It is known as the Hunters Moon. Time for us to become the hunters, huntresses in our lives. I am actually feeling pretty excited about this full moon, it will be in the self-assured sign of Taurus, while the sun is in brave, ambitious Scorpio. Think long term success.
This moon will coax us to shed the layers of our old selves. The outdated prepares to fly the coop, time to take advantage and use this energy to release old patterns. Clear out everything – have a spring clean or autumn clean. Clear anything that feels old and fearful, what you do now will carry you forward.
In order to release these old patterns, we need to be aware of them. To be aware of them can oftentimes be scary, and I would like to dispel that fear if I can. Think of it as a tree losing its leaves in fall, or a snake shedding its skin (which it does about 2 - 4 times a year) – nothing scary about either of those. A tree loses its leaves in the fall so that it does not have to provide nourishment for them through the winter, and so that growth can appear in spring. In spring the tree is busy reaching higher (growing), buds appear and soon the tree is full of leaves. For the tree it is about survival and growth. The snake sheds its skin because it too grows and outgrows his skin. If he never shed his skin he would not grow.
For some reason, as humans, we choose to keep preforming old patterns, we like the familiarity of doing the same, it gives us comfort. Even when it brings us, over and over, experiences we do not wish to have. WE ask for more, but keep providing the same offering and expect a different result. That is what we are going to clear out with this full moon. Why are we going to let it fly the coop? Because we want more, and we are being given a period of time to work on long term success!
Of course I am going to call in the Angels, and my guides – the Hunter’s moon is said to help the veil between the worlds thin, so pay attention to all messages and visions you receive on the 26, 27 and 28th.
Get comfortable, relax your body, and mind with deep breaths, counting down from 10 until you are totally relaxed. If you are not relaxed when you get to zero, start at 10 and count down again.
When you are relaxed ask your angels and guides to show you the energy around you that is darker – representing the old that needs to be swept away. Breathe in and see that dark entering you – don’t worry, you are well protected and will be breathing out light, you are going to transform it. Before you take an in breath ask “what does this represent?” then take a deep, slow breath and see the smoke entering you, pay attention to whatever you hear, feel or see. As you breathe out, see the breath leaving you as pure white, think the fluffiest cloud against a blue sky, and know that you have released the old and have made way for the new to enter. Continue taking breaths in and releasing, slowly, until all the dark smoke is gone. Now focus on drawing in big beautiful breathes through your crown chakra, breathing in the universal white light of love, and feel it go deep within your body, and flow out the souls of your feet into the earth, purifying and cleansing you so that you are ready for the new. Once you have taken 3 deep cleansing breaths, ask your angels and guides if they have a message for you, connect with them and thank them for all the guidance and love they provide you. Then slowly count your way out of your meditation from 1 to 10.
As you move forward after this, if you feel stuck or unbalanced, be the hunter and track the smoke. Once you find the source, work on allowing it to be released from your life, and don’t forget to ask your angels and guides for help.
