Today as I say goodbye to 2016 it is with mixed emotions. There were some good times and some not so good times, however, here I am feeling blessed for all that has come to me this year. After careful consideration I decided to send off the year with a green flame, I have not done a green flame in quite some time it is awkward on my tiny balcony, but today it felt appropriate.
This is one ritual that I absolutely love doing. It is rather simple and doesn’t require lots of ingredients and the effects are both amazing and wonderful. The Green Flame Ritual can be used for many purposes. I happen to like it as a releasing ritual, and could not think of a better way to release 2016 before welcoming 2017.
The first thing you need to do is think about what you are ready to release from your life. Don’t take this step lightly, really think about what is in your life right now and what you need or want to let go of. Write them down. If you wish, you can write them down on small pieces of paper and fold into little packets. Personally, I don’t always write them down, but I do spend time thinking about what I am going to give to the flames. Time to gather the ingredients and pick a time when you will fire Green Flame up. I recommend doing green flame outdoors. One never knows when working with flames what can happen. Make sure you are in an area free of overhanging debris; an open area works best if you have a fire pit even better! You will need a tin can; any size will work except for a small fish can unless you want a small ritual. Soup cans work great. Rubbing alcohol, 99% works best for having the best green flames. Epsom salts. Place some Epsom salts into the can, over them pour the rubbing alcohol, enough to cover. Once all is gathered and ready, I call in my angels, asking that only what is ready to be released will be released. When I feel ready, I light it with a match. I sit and watch the flames as they dance around, now is when you would gently place your little pieces of paper into the flame, or if you are like me say into the flames what you are releasing.
Everyone experiences something different. Once the flames were shooting about 3 feet into the air, and when I would feed it something I was releasing (intentionally as I don’t write them out) the flames went small and looked like they were chewing it up. Other times the flames have been small until I place something into them and then flare up. I do know that whatever I am releasing always goes, hence why you need to give some serious thought to what you wish to release.
Today I could tell I have not done Green Flame for some time, the flames flickered high and burned bright, right up until they flickered out. I will be doing one again soon, only this time I will use it to manifest what I wish to have brought to me for 2017.
I always feel lighter after doing a Green Flame. If you wish to give it a try, today's energy is perfect all you need is some Epsom salts, rubbing alcohol and a tin can. Even if you don't know what you wish to release, just watching the flames will be enough. Remember as with all fires please use caution! I would love to hear of your experiences with Green Flame.
Namaste and Happy New Year to all!!!
I love this time of year. There is light everywhere and typically good cheer. The world seems brighter and love seems to be louder than any other month of the year. It is like we lay down our worries and cares and universally gather round to celebrate. Most countries around the world have a tradition that is based on a faith story that has been passed down for centuries. It seems that December gives us hope. Even when we feel all might be lost, it shows up to signal the end of the year and we begin to get excited about what the New Year will bring.
There is always something to bring a smile to your face this month unless you are truly a Grinch! But even the Grinch’s heart grew so there is hope for all humanity that peace will reign if only for a brief period. Yes, there is lots to smile about during the year, but this month seems magical. All wishes and dreams can come true if only we believe.
As we step into December, take a moment and give thanks for all that 2016 has brought to you, even the bits that you wish had not transpired. For in gratitude one finds the grace of serenity. Know that you did the best that you could and utilised the tools you had at your disposal.
Then as the month unfolds, spend time with loved ones and friends, as tomorrow is never promised to any of us. Ensure you capture as much joy as you can. Give to those who could use a helping hand so that they may have joy as well.
Quietly sit and dream about your goals for 2017. And raise a glass of cheer for the dreams you left behind because they no longer fit into your ever-expanding life. Growth is a marvellous thing. It moves us forward beyond who we are, into our future selves who have bigger dreams and goals to achieve.
The longest night of the year arrives on the 21st heralding winter. Light a candle and welcome winter along with the promise of spring.
No matter what plans you have for the month ahead do so with joy. Laugh, love and know that you are truly living. Blessings to each of you as we close out 2016, thank you all for being part of my journey and may 2017 be filled with blessings overflowing!
Cheers and good will to all!
Always thinking, always observing, always wondering and pondering the things that make life go round.
